So you're sick of buying earrings that make your ears itch, and you're sick of buying "hypoallergenic" earrings, or earrings for "sensitive ears" that still make your ears itch. Does that mean you have to give up on wearing earrings altogether? Of course not! Unfortunately much of the jewellery that is labeled "hypoallergenic" these days, can be good for those with a mild allergy, but is often made with low quality stainless steel, and will still cause anyone with a severe case of nickel allergy to react.
So what can you do? Only buy "allergy free" jewellery if you can be certain it is made from high quality 316L stainless steel, or titanium. Why titanium? Titanium is the most hypoallergenic metal used in jewellery today, and will not cause a reaction in even the most severe cases of nickel allergy. You must still be careful however, as some companies will sell titanium earrings that have stainless steel posts and clips, which is fine if of high quality, but if in doubt, only buy titanium earrings with titanium posts and clips.
Pure titanium jewellery is 100% hypoallergenic and allergy free and will also not produce skin discoloration. Titanium does not react to sunlight, salt water, chlorine or anything that the body emits. Titanium can be worn with confidence, as anyone can wear it without the concern of an adverse reaction to their body. So don't stop wearing jewellery, but do shop with your eyes open, and do not hesitate to ask questions!
